  1. Phoenix series

    Phoenix series

The Phoenix series was born out of the need to cut material costs as prices for metals and hardwoods continue to rise. Instead of purchasing new materials, wood cutoffs from the workshop were repurposed and assembled intuitively, with function in mind. These mismatched pieces came together to form a unique composite, much like wood-fiber boards.

    It wasn't me

In our contemporary world, artificial intelligence is increasingly finding its way into the mainstream. Freely accessible online platforms can create masterful photorealistic images from text, in addition they can create variations on images within seconds that are far more interesting in form than any designer could conceive within the same time span. Which makes this revolution threaten the existence of designers and artists. The tactile design process is increasingly losing popularity and we are becoming more and more disconnected from our environment and nature. To counterbalance this evolution, I am trying to build a collection around the four elements, water, earth, fire and air. With these elements, I attempt to mimic the same design method as AI software. For each work, I try to create the simplest possible form I can think of for a piece of furniture. Where I then leave the subsequent design process to one of the four elements.
